Barong
Balinese · Magic · Rank 1 · Arcane Wall
The myth
In Bali, the Barong is the king of benevolent spirits, a beast somewhere between lion and dog, all gilding and mirrors. Every year his battle against the witch Rangda is danced, and he never quite defeats her: he only keeps her from passing.
In the Arena
That is exactly what his spirit does in the Arena. The warrior moves as he knows how, then the Barong lies down across a tile in the form of a magic hex shining with gold. No enemy gets past it, and even a charging Djinn stops before it. The Barong does not win the battle: he guards the gate.
In play
The warrior moves according to his ability, then places 1 magic token that forms a wall the enemy cannot cross.
